PCOS & Gender Survey 2021

In the summer of 2020 and summer of 2021, I ran a survey with the intent to observe the potential impact PCOS may have on one’s gender, as I myself have experienced fucky-wucky feelings of gender due to PCOS

More information can be found on my blog for this survey [link]

Alternatively, information on the survey can be found on its carrd, including information about last year’s survey, links to this year’s surveys, and some basic information on PCOS [link]

imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.

for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.

For reference, the reason nobody likes this book and you can press tofu with it is that it’s about 1600 pages long.

It’s also, by all accounts, the origin of Cousin Throckmorton

Canadian commercial actors say American actors are crossing the border and the picket line in the middle of a major US entertainment industry strike and filling the jobs of Canadian actors who have been locked out for over a year.

Thousands of unionized commercial actors in Canada have been locked out since April 2022 while The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) has been negotiating with commercial agencies to try and get a fair deal.

Now, as a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors and WGA writers strikes that have shut down TV and film productions in the United States, some Hollywood actors have travelled north of the border in search of non-union commercial work in Canada.

“Over the last year there’s been a lot of American commercials shooting up in Canada doing everything non union because they can walk around it,” one ACTRA member who requested to be anonymous told PressProgress. […]

ACTRA has also called for a boycott of Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Rogers, Wendy’s, Sleep Country, and H&R Block

Don’t fall for the propaganda that the strikes are to blame for shoes being cancelled. They can surely wait until they’re over to start writing and production, but this is a way to intimidate writers and actors by saying they may not have a job after all of this is over and put the blame where it belongs - on the studios.
